When: Thursday, January 15th, 2009
7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Reel FX is known around the world for its talented artists and animators who have recently worked on movies such as Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar 2, Open Season 2, Enchanted and more. Participants will include Reel FX’s award-winning studio artists, and staff as well as 10 special guest artists consisting of local and national artists and Reel FX celebrity friends: Rob Harrell, Brad Oldham, David Levy , Artman, Ray-Mel Cornelius, Kevin Peterson, Neko, Monica Kelly, Brent Hale, Frank Campagna and Brian Gibb.
Each participant was given a blank 10” x 10” canvas, donated and provided by Reel FX to transform in any style or medium. The studio encouraged participants to think “outside the canvas” and branch out from traditional mediums.
“As a creative studio, we know that art is the foundation of all of our work, whether the final product is a movie, a commercial or a theme park ride.” states gallery director Limbert Fabian . “Although we are not all artists, we wanted to encourage everyone to support the amazing kids whose lives are made better by Children’s Medical Center .”
The event is simple. Everyone will pay a donation of $10 for admission to the show. All art will be priced at an affordable $50. Reel FX thanks its staff and guest artists, who often sell works for thousands of dollars, for agreeing to sell their work at such an amazing price. If the attendee chooses to buy a piece of art, they will only have to pay the $40 difference between the entry fee and the price of the piece. All pieces will be available for sale on a first come first serve basis, so Reel FX encourages everyone to get there early! Also, to add to the fun, all the pieces will be unmarked until they are purchased. To keep the focus on the art, rather than the participants, staff will reveal to the buyer who created his or her piece at the time of purchase. Payments will be accepted in the form of cash or check.
“We have been on a mission to find the perfect way to merge our cause-related endeavors with the art that is a part of our daily lives. A CANVAS FOR A CAUSE is the first event to fall under this ‘charity art initiative’ banner, and we hope to make it an annual affair at The Gallery at Reel FX,” comments Katherine Harper, Marketing Director of Reel FX Creative Studios. “We can’t think of a better cause and we look forward to a successful event that will benefit the amazing work they do at Children’s.”
