Many of you may have noticed a new mural on the corner of Commerce and Walton. It’s a fairly large mural with the words “Save Deep Ellum” in bold letters, and a powerful image of a fist underneath it. The image was created by Mark Roberts of the Pawn Gallery, and painted by Frank Campagna of The Kettle. We hope that with time this painting will be noted as a moving force in bringing people together to help fight for the history of Deep Ellum.

I used to be a long time supporter of the Deep Ellum art/film scene all the way from the 1990’s to the early 2000’s. I moved to California shortly after.
It saddens me to hear the state of a neighborhood that I grew up in and inspired me in so many ways.
Even out of state, is there anything I can do to help? I still come back. I want to see the neighborhood survive. Anyone who never knew how magic that place was sorely missed out.
