Mayor Leppert was the guest speaker at a property owners meeting at the Deep Ellum Foundation Office (2630 Commerce). About 30 people were in attendance including non property owners who voiced their concerns about various Deep Ellum issues, i.e. the vagrant population in the area, graffiti and parking.
I attended the meeting as a representative for Gregg Fussell a local business and property owner. One issue that needs to be worked out is that not all property owners were informed about the meeting. We found out about the meeting through an area business owner (who incidentally isn’t a property owner) and I ended up arriving about 45 minutes late. This put me there right in time for the actual meeting, but sadly, not in time for the complimentary breakfast.
I am in the process of transcribing the notes from the meeting, and will post it as soon as possible. Here are some fancy bullet points to give you an idea of what was discussed:
- Dallas Bike-Hike trail
- Convention Center Hotel
- Vagrancy Issues
- Outcome of the SUP hearings
- Area Parking
There were some juicy soundbites, so stay tuned for more information on the property owner’s meeting with Mayor Leppert coming up soon.
