The Friends of the Katy Trail are trying to raise $100,000 to match a grant from the the Hoblitzelle Foundation that will pay for lighting the trail from Knox to Airline.

The group is hosting a fund-raising reception from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2008 at the Dahlia Woods Gallery, 600 Cantegral Street (our Deep Ellum neighbor, off Live Oak behind the Latino Cultural Center and diagonally across from the Dallas Center for Contemporary Art). Dahlia Woods Gallery will be hosting an evening of art, wine, hor d’ouerves and live music. A cocktail fund raiser for the price of $50. Click here for more details.
There is talk about Angela Hunt’s hopes for a trail connecting the Dallas Arts District with the Katy Trail. More talk of Katy Trail to run through Deep Ellum, Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert, Jeff Swaney with Delphi Group Inc. and Barry Annino with Deep Ellum Foundation had a meeting a while back about the trail to reach Fair Park and extend to White Rock Lake. 35 Miles of loveliness!
