I was asked to clarify between the different Deep Ellum Organizations and thought it might be useful to post it up. This is the crib-notes version but it gives an overview.
Deep Ellum Residents Council (DERC):
• I believe Gianna Madrini started this organization a while back is still the president of this organization which is dedicated to strictly the residents.
• They have periodic meetings
• Their web site is deepellumhome.com
• Their big event is “lofty living” where they showcase all the badass lofts in the area
Deep Ellum Association (DEA):
• The DEA’s job is to market the neighborhood
• Our board and membership is comprised of business owners, property owners, residents
• We have been going through a whole refocusing effort trying to get a consensus from all our members and builder stronger relations with DEEP, DEF and Residence Council
• All the details (mission statement, proposed projects and web development) can be downloaded here:

Save Deep Ellum (SDE):
• Started February of 2007 by myself and Nick Zimmerman in the spirit of “defend brooklyn”
• It is not a separate entity it was designed to be a vehicle for the entire neighborhood
• There was no web presence at all which represented Deep Ellum’s point-of-view and we saw a need for such
• DEA, DEEP and local clubs, artists & galleries all use it to promote their events
Deep Ellum Foundation (DEF):
• Comprised of Property Owners and one DEA member
• Contracted by city to distribute the PID Dollars
• Working with NCTCOG on infrastructure spending for the neighborhood

Deep Ellum Enrichment Program (DEEP):
• Grew out of a grass roots organization called “save the scene”
• Originally was event-driven by random people who lived in the neighborhood and many that just love the area
• They hit peoples radar in a big way during the Special Use Permits for the bars when the put together SUP packets and handed them around. Many bars did not know they needed an SUP until DEEP informed them.
• They meet every Tuesday at a different neighborhood location.
• DEEP is heading a crime watch for the neighborhood
